This
afternoon Janet and I went out to the airport and I gave the bird its first wash
since Oct 2010. Rick and Curt came by to clean up the 150. They agreed that the best way to dry off the Chief is to fly it, so I
preflighted, propped, and rolled down the taxiway.
I took off, kept the pattern super tight, did a low pass at 90 MPH 15' off the deck, and zoomed climbed back to pattern altitude.
Then a
slipping, descending 180 from downwind, skimmed 30' over the the road at
the end of the runway, slowed to 45, held it off, and gently rolled it
onto the grass.
All for maybe a gallon of gas. This is one fun airplane!
